The optimistic skeptic

I always tried to resist things like blogs, twitter, Facebook…. All social media really. Being a part of the last generation to know what life was like pre internet, gave me this urge to preserve some of that ‘freedom’, to steer clear of looking at life through a screen or on one. Then I realised I was being a hypocrite. As a photographer/ videographer I have spent a vast proportion of my existence looking at life through a lens, interpreting my surroundings in terms of millimeteres and shutter speeds, it’s incredible how your perception of something changes when you create an imaginary box around it. So after much consideration I decided to integrate with the digital world and actually I have very quickly seen the good side of social media and it’s ability to highlight causes, events, remarkable people and some truly wonderful thinking.

Perhaps at this point I should introduce myself, my name is Gina Goodman, I am a 26 year old marine and natural history photographer currently residing in Cornwall and I love the sea. Besides that I am also a struggling graduate who has stepped into the big wide world armed with a camera and more enthusiasm than I think is socially acceptable…With that in mind I greatly look forward to sharing my experiences, photographs, findings and travels here as much as I look forward to hearing of others or even coming up with some collaborative projects.

I’ll keep you posted.
